The MG HS Plug-in Hybrid is a tantalising blend of electric and petrol. It boasts a 32 mile electric range, so you can drive it like an electric car. The 16.6 kWh battery and 90kW electric motor deliver an awesome driving experience, or you can use them in combination with the 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. In Hybrid mode, it kicks out 258bhp and 370Nm of torque while returning up to 155.8mpg combined. Now that’s impressive!

It also comes equipped with semi-autonomous driving aids like intelligent speed limit assist, traffic jam assist, blind spot detection and lane keeping assist, as well as adaptive cruise control and a 360° parking camera. EV mode

In EV mode, the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid delivers a range of up to 32 miles, which is plenty for short journeys and commutes. The car also sets off moving on electric power in stop and start traffic to boost efficiency and refinement.

Hybrid mode

In Hybrid mode, the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid uses the 90kW electric motor and 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine together. The combined power output is 258bhp with 370Nm of torque, giving it a 0-62mph time of 6.9 seconds.

There’s an electric handbrake with auto-hold and a 10-speed automatic gearbox to keep everything ticking over. The driving experience is refined and smooth with impressive efficiency and response.
